Having risen in has banking career from an assistant cashier in 1946 to president of the Pembroke State Bank, Edgar Billy Miles set out to build a grand estate in the heart of the town he loved. Located on 2.11 acres, directly across from the Pembroke Library, he chose a traditional plan that would embrace the romance of Southern living.

In true Classical Revival style, the full brick home has presense. Full height Corinthian columns grace the front porch, topped with a front facing pediment. Formal symmetry of windows and roofline add to its grandeur. A side entry two car garage was a modern convenience that did not spoil the aesthetic.
